About PaletteGet
A small site that takes colour selection seriously: no feature padding, just palettes you can actually use, copy and ship — each one verified for accessibility.
What this site is
PaletteGet is a palette library for apps, websites and mini apps. A palette here is not a screenshot — it is a structured list of colour values: named roles (primary, text, background, border and so on), HEX / RGB / HSL formats, a WCAG contrast report, and CSS variables, SCSS variables, a Tailwind config and JSON that you can paste straight into your project.
The three-platform preview you see on each detail page renders the same palette inside a real app screen, web page and mini app. The fastest way to judge a palette is to look at it inside a real interface, not at a row of swatches.
Why it exists
When developers and designers get stuck at the start, it is usually not the layout — it is the colour. Either the contrast is too low to read, or a few colours fight each other.
We wanted a starting point you can use immediately: already past the accessibility baseline, with clearly separated roles, ready to copy.
Where the palettes come from
Palettes come from two sources:
- Curated — hand-picked and hand-tuned, used as the quality reference and never overwritten.
- Generated — produced automatically from hue and harmony rules. A small number is added each day, and nothing is ever removed.
Generation is not random colouring. Every candidate has to pass the quality gates below, and anything that fails is discarded, so only a few make it in each day. That is deliberate: fewer, better.
How quality is enforced
Every palette passes automated checks before it enters the dataset:
- Body readability — text-to-background contrast ≥ 4.5:1 (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Brand legibility — brand colour to page background contrast ≥ 3:1.
- De-duplication — palettes too close to an existing one are rejected, so the library does not become repetitive.
The results are shown as a contrast table on every detail page. We did not want it to stay a claim — you can see for yourself whether it passes.
Built for developers and AI
Alongside the human-readable pages, the site exposes machine-readable endpoints: the full dataset as JSON, per-palette .json and .css endpoints, and an llms.txt for AI agents. None of them carry ads, so tooling can fetch them directly.
Who runs it
PaletteGet is independently run. The maintainer is responsible for the curation, the generation rules and the updates. We do not accept paid listings: every palette comes from one of the two sources above, and no advertiser can buy a spot in the library.
